Hi Bryan!
GREAT NEWS! The City of Toronto’s credit rating improved to AA+ (rated by S&P Global) for the first time in 20+ years. A year ago, our city faced dire financial challenges. The rating increase is attributed to the following: A strong long term financial plan The city’s prudent financial management with a multi-year approach to budgeting Commitment to sustainable funding for operating and capital needs Robust reserves Strong financial support from other orders of government including The New Deal which included the upload of the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway - unlocking $1.9 billion over the next decade to be invested into priorities including housing and transit
Maintaining a high-quality credit rating provides the city access to lower long-term borrowing costs for infrastructure investments.
Shooting at Yonge St. and Bogert Ave. Yesterday It is upsetting to know another shooting has happened in our neighbourhood. I am meeting soon with Superintendent Jackson of 32 Division and will discuss the recent gun violence in our ward and what can be done on a neighbourhood, city, provincial, and federal level.
A daylight shooting occurred on Thursday at noon at Yonge St. and Bogert Ave. in the entrance of an underground parking area. A 30-year-old was shot during this incident and is now in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. There is still no information on what led to the shooting or any suspect descriptions. However, police have noted there is no threat to public safety as it was not a random shooting. Anyone with information is urged to contact Toronto Police.

TIPS FOR TREATING ACCESSIBLY THIS HALLOWEEN! Some trick-or-treaters may have difficulty navigating inclines, stairs, curving walkways, etc. Consider placing your trick-or-treating station in an easily accessible location.
Below are some tips from Treat Accessibly, a grassroots organization that works with our local government to ensure every trick-or-treater can have a fun and meaningful experience during Halloween!
Make sure the path to your trick-or-treating station is well-lit. Clear your driveway and pathways of any obstacles. Park your vehicle on the street or in your garage to allow easy access. Set up your trick-or-treating station at the end of your driveway or in your garage. If your home doesn't have a driveway, you can use your vehicle to trunk-or-treat Refrain from the use of strobe lights and high-pitched, sudden loud noises which may be alarming for some children. Some pets can be intimidating so make sure that they are kept safely away from the front of the house. Not everyone can eat candy, so consider stocking some non-edible treats such as stickers, pencils, crayons, small toys, etc. stored in a bowl separate from your edible treats. You may see trick-or-treaters that appear older, but that doesn't mean that they aren't excited about your treats! Some trick-or-treaters may not be able to see what they are getting. Consider explaining to them the delightful treat you're providing. Not everyone communicates in the same way. Just be patient and understanding. The children and their caregivers will appreciate it.
It is great fun walking through our neighbourhood looking for all the Halloween decorations. Please send us pictures of any notable installations! Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
|

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT INCENTIVES CONSULTATION
The City is reviewing its stormwater management programs that offer incentives to help property owners reduce basement flooding and stormwater runoff risks on their properties.
Stormwater management involves managing rain and melted snow to prevent flooding and reduce negative impacts to water quality. Hard surfaces like pavement and concrete cause stormwater to run off properties, flow along streets and enter storm drains, eventually reaching local waterways or wastewater treatment facilities.
Toronto’s hard surface areas combined with intense rainfall can lead to increased stormwater runoff entering the sewer system, raising the risk of basement flooding and putting additional pressure on public infrastructure.
The City is consulting the public on opportunities for new and expanded stormwater management incentives for private properties. It aims to gather feedback on existing and potential grants, subsidies or rebates for installing green infrastructure like permeable surfaces, rain gardens or bioswales, and for actions that reduce flooding risks.
Public consultation will take place from October 23 to November 5. The public is encouraged to participate in the consultation by completing an online survey or providing feedback through email or phone.
