G'mar Chatima Tovah! Today at sundown, Yom Kippur begins the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Wishing our Jewish neighbours a blessed and prayerful Yom Kippur! G'mar chatima tova! On October 9, Councillor Pasternak organised a time with our fellow Toronto City Councillors to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, which marks the start of the Jewish High Holy Days leading up to Yom Kippur. We heard the blowing of the shofar and ate apples dipped in honey. It was wonderful to spend this meaningful time with my colleagues who celebrate this holy time of year. Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for our vibrant Willowdale community and the opportunity to serve you. I also wanted to add thanks to the first responders who attended to my family after the accident last week. They were kind, patient and thoughtful. I hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend alongside family and friends! Spaghetti Town Halls COMING SOON. RSVP Today! Just a reminder, we kick off our first Spaghetti Town Hall NEXT THURSDAY, October 17 at Brebeuf College for Newtonbrook East.

WILLOWDALE CLIMATE ACTION ROUNDTABLE UPDATE
In our ongoing commitment to bringing tangible actions to Willowdale for environmental protection and climate action, we were thrilled to host our fourth Willowdale Climate Action Roundtable on October 5th. This wonderful event was made possible in partnership with Seniors for Climate Action Now (who provided delicious snacks), ClimateFast, and the Green Neighbours Network of Toronto. A huge thank you to Willowdaler Jane Garthson for championing the Climate and Health discussion. Her vision and dedication to raising climate awareness in our community truly inspire us. We also want to give a special shout-out to our incredible guest speakers: Keith Brooks, Environmental Defence Canada Mili Roy, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment How-Sen Chong, Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA) Michelle Hjort, Energy Neighbour These knowledgeable specialists shared invaluable insights that enriched our discussions.
Our next steps involve coordinating a Day of Action to advocate for Cummer Station to be included in the Metrolinx subway expansion. This will be an opportunity for families, community members, and climate champions to go door-to-door, petitioning for this important initiative that will significantly impact the future of our neighbourhood. We’re excited to continue our collaboration and strengthen climate action in Willowdale!
