Hi Neighbour!

Hate is not okay in Willowdale, Toronto, or Canada

On Wednesday, August 21st, a threatening email was sent to over 100 Jewish institutions across Canada. This threat of extreme violence to Jewish organizations and doctors across Canada is a shocking display of escalating anti-semitism in our city and nation. I denounce these threats and hatred in the strongest possible terms and thank our municipal, provincial and federal police for their quick action to secure the safety of our Jewish neighbours. We're especially grateful to Toronto Police Service for attending buildings in the Bathurst and Sheppard area.

We've also heard of recent anti-Semitic posters in our Willowdale community. Many have been removed and we're working toward the quick removal of the remaining offensive and hateful posters. If you see any in Willowdale neighbourhoods, please log a 311 complaint and send the case number to our office for follow-up at councillor_cheng@toronto.ca.

Let’s build a city where everyone feels safe and welcome.

DOUGLAS SNOW AQUATIC CENTRE: SCHEDULE CHANGE

Starting Tuesday, September 3, 2024, the Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre will introduce a new pool schedule, incorporating both 50-metre and 25-metre formats.

Due to challenges with the bulkhead used to transition between formats, which has led to potential damage and safety concerns, the new schedule aims to minimize bulkhead movement and enhance safety.

This adjustment, developed with input from local aquatic clubs and schools, may also allow for additional programs. Updates have been communicated to patrons through posted signs, handouts, and an online “Service Alert,” with the new schedule available above.
